Powerful stories…

We’d love to hear your story. A powerful way to structure a story is to share it in three sections, for example: what challenge did you encounter, what strategies did you use to get around it, and what are your reflections about trying to achieve positive change?

Please keep each section brief, ideally between 100-300 words, to keep it readable – give us your choicest words.

What was it that you found inaccessible or difficult to navigate? (This might be something about the physical environment in the street, or about interactions with vehicles, bikes, pedestrians or other road users.) What impact did it have on you (did it restrict or prevent you from doing something)?
What strategies did you use, either individually or collectively, to minimise or circumvent the problem? Tell us about things you did or do to get around, and live with, the problem? (Examples might be taking time to plan alternative routes; not walking/wheeling in that area without assistance; avoiding the area completely; using apps or the internet for relevant information; using different types of clothing or footwear.)
If you tried to make change (eg by removing the problem issue), how did you go about this? Did it work? If so, what was the change? If not, why not? If you didn’t try to get the problem removed, what were the reasons? How could this be made easier?
(e.g. no separate pedestrian space, crossing a road, dangerous footpaths, pollution, overgrown vegetation, etc)
